Erna Windecker

Erna Windecker August 24, 1934 – December 28, 2025

Erna Windecker, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully late in the evening on December 28, 2025, at the Sunshine Place Lodge (Good Samaritan Society) in Evansburg, Alberta.

Erna was born on August 24, 1934, in Bogdanka, Poland. She was a woman of remarkable character, known for her strong will and her incredible green thumb. Her gardens were a local marvel, always overflowing with delicious vegetables and vibrant flowers.

For Erna, home was where her heart was, and she found immense joy in the Evansburg community. Whether she was attending church, volunteering her time, or hosting family at "the Farm," she was at her happiest when surrounded by those she loved and the land she tended.

Erna is survived by her loving partner of 22 years, Frank Neuhold; her sister; Hilda, grandchildren; Daniel, Dezzriane, Andrew, William, Jiszika, Lee, Christopher, and Mellisa; and a legacy of many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a large extended family, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ida and Walfryd Stein; her husband, Lawrence; and her children, Wilfred, Miles, Percy and Heidi.

Service Details - A memorial service to celebrate Erna's life and legacy will be held in the Spring of 2026 at the Farm, where her spirit was always most at home.
